Why do I need a responsive website?

Responsive web design is a hot topic these days and for a good reason. With more and more people using mobile devices to browse the internet, responsive web design ensures that your website will always be easy to read and navigate on any device, anywhere in the world!

Not only does responsive web design provide an optimal browsing experience for your customers, but it also has many other benefits, such as increased conversion rates, improved search engine optimization (SEO), and reduced bounce rate.

When it comes to responsive web design, you can’t just go with any developer. You need an agency or freelancer specializing in responsive design and has the experience and expertise to get the job done right.

Why should I invest in one?

Your website needs to be responsive because more consumers than ever are using mobile devices when browsing online! According to Business Insider, by 2017, over half of all search traffic will come from mobiles!

If you have a non-responsive site, many potential customers may never see it due to their preference for phones instead of computers.

How much does it cost to have a responsive website built for my business?

Agency prices for responsive design can range from $2000-$20000+, freelancer rates vary widely but tend to be lower than agencies’, and using a website builder can start as low as $50/month.

When choosing one, what should you look for in an agency, freelancer, or software?

When it comes to responsive website design, you want to work with a company or freelancer who can respond to you the same day. You also want them to provide multiple revisions so that you can get the perfect website for your business.

Even better, have them provide a design of what the website will look like. That way, there’s no need to build and design simultaneously. Without a design or example upfront, the process takes so much time and ultimately is how the agency/freelancer determines their pricing.

You want to work with someone that won’t complicate the process or make it sound super complicated because it shouldn’t be. If the agency or freelancer makes it sound complex, they want to charge you more.

If an agency or freelancer uses drag-and-drop software themselves, their designs might not be too complex or anything that you couldn’t do yourself.

They are probably just using the designs that the software provides. The main benefit of not using drag-and-drop software is that you have more control over the website’s design, but it will require more time and effort on your part.

Make sure to ask about their availability, experience, expertise, and what kind of results they’ve been able to achieve for past clients.

The benefits of having an up-to-date website design that is mobile-friendly

Not only will your website look great on any device, but you’ll also see increased conversion rates, improved search engine optimization (SEO), and a reduced bounce rate.

  • Better user experience
  • The user might pay more attention to your content and take action
  • More web traffic because users spend more time on your website, so your bounce rate decreases.
  • With a lower bounce rate, Google will start seeing your website as more relevant and authoritative in your niche, so your search engine ranking will increase.
  • Once your search engine rankings increase, you’ll be able to reach a wider audience.
  • Better search engine rankings and a better user experience mean that users will see you as an expert in the field and more credible.

Famous platforms to use when building websites.

WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla are the most famous open-source content management systems (CMS) for website development.

Millions of people and businesses worldwide use them because they’re cost-effective, customizable, and relatively easy to use.

All three support responsive design, so you don’t have to worry about your website not looking great on any device.

If you’re not sure which one to choose, I’d recommend starting with WordPress (it’s what I use) because it has both options, website building software, and the ability to use code to build a website (which gives you more control over the website).

More than 60 million people use WordPress, and it powers more than a quarter of all websites on the internet.

That’s many people who can help you if you ever need any support with your website. There are tons of forums and communities that you can join to learn as you go.

Not to mention, all the themes (plus you can build your own) and plugins (to provide extra functionality) available in the WordPress directory so you can make your website look exactly how you want it to look.

Most commonly used website building software

If you’re on a tight budget, you can use either Wix, Squarespace, Weebly, Webflow, or many more to make a website easier. They will charge more for hosting but usually make it easy.

Drag-and-drop software can be limiting because you’re restricted to what’s available in the software. You also don’t have as much control over the design of your website, which might not look great on all devices or require more time fine-tuning them.

However, if you want something simple to use and don’t require any coding knowledge, drag-and-drop software is a good option for you.

Wix is the most popular drag-and-drop website builder. It’s cost-effective yet still very feature-rich as well.

They also have search engine optimization (SEO) capabilities that help make your site be found by users organically. They have the capabilities but you still have to optimize your website and know what you’re doing.

Squarespace is another platform that I would recommend. It’s used by over five million people and has many features like eCommerce built-in, so you don’t have to set up or pay for any third-party software.

Both of these along with all other website building software are good options if you want something that looks good quickly.

Go with your gut, choose an agency or freelancer that you feel good working with

Personality and compatibility are much more important than price

You’ll be working with this agency or freelancer very closely as your website gets built. You’ll want to make sure that you’re working with someone you like and get along with. Otherwise, the process might get very frustrating and unpleasant.

A mobile-friendly website is no longer an option. It’s a necessity! If your business doesn’t have one, now is the time to get started. It provides a better user experience, increases web traffic, and improves search engine ranking. What else could you ask for?
